How to Keep Your GeoOp Account Safe and Secure

At GeoOp, we take the security of your account very seriously. We understand that your business and personal information is important and we want to ensure that it is protected at all times. In this article, we will go over some important steps you can take to keep your GeoOp account safe and secure.

Enable Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)

One of the best ways to secure your GeoOp account is by enabling Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA). This adds an extra layer of security to your account by requiring a unique code in addition to your password when logging in. This code is sent to your phone or email and is only valid for a short period of time. This means that even if someone has your password, they will not be able to access your account without the unique code.

You can turn on MFA by going to your Avatar in the bottom left corner, clicking on your profile and then going to the 'Security Tab'

Make MFA Mandatory for All Users

As an admin, you have the ability to make MFA mandatory for all users in your GeoOp account. This ensures that all users are following the same security measures and reduces the risk of any unauthorized access to your account.

An admin can do this by going into the Settings and clicking on the Security Tab. From here you can turn on MFA as mandatory.

Note: for accounts that are integrated with Xero, MFA will already be mandatory for all users.

Use Complex Usernames

When creating a username for your GeoOp account, it is important to use a complex one. This means avoiding using easily guessable usernames such as your name or company name. Instead, use a combination of letters, numbers, and special characters to make it more difficult for someone to guess.

Use Complex Passwords

In addition to a complex username, it is important to use a complex password for your GeoOp account. This means using a minimum of 10 characters, including at least one upper case letter, one lower case letter, one number, and one special character. Avoid using easily guessable passwords such as your birthdate or a common word.

Change Your Password Often

It is recommended to change your password for your GeoOp account regularly. This reduces the risk of someone gaining access to your account if your password is compromised. We suggest changing your password at least every 3 months.

Do Not Share Your Password

It is important to never share your GeoOp account password with anyone. This includes colleagues, friends, or family members. Your password is your personal key to your account and should be kept confidential at all times.

Update Your Password If You Receive an Unrequested MFA Code

If you receive an MFA code for your GeoOp account that you did not request, it is important to immediately update your password. This could be a sign that someone is trying to access your account without your permission. By updating your password, you can ensure that your account remains secure.

By following these steps, you can help keep your GeoOp account safe and secure. If you have any further questions or concerns about the security of your account, please don't hesitate to contact our support team for assistance.
